My specialized area is Franskraal. It is a seaside village, about 6 km outside Gansbaai, that has a long sand-beach crossing the outlet of the Uilkraals-estuary, a well-known birding hotspot. Dyer Island, on the horizon, is a breeding colony for jackass penguins and seals.
